About West Lafayette, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Found in Tippecanoe County, West Lafayette is an Indiana city with a population of nearly 30,000 residents. This community is situated along the Wabash River across from Lafayette, its sister city. West Lafayette is the most densely populated in Indiana, and it is also the most culturally diverse. This city is home to Purdue University, and it is conveniently located an hour from Indianapolis and less than two hours from Chicago.

In addition to the variety of activities and events available through Purdue University, there are many other points of interest available in West Lafayette. History enthusiasts may enjoy a trip to Fort Ouiatenon, which served as an early French trading post. West Lafayette is a great destination for people who appreciate architecture, as Samara, a Usonian home that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is located here and offers tours. Other popular destinations in the community include Harry’s Chocolate Shop, the Celery Bog Nature Area, and the Lilly Nature Center.

West Lafayette is part of a humid continental climate zone. This means that residents will experience four distinct seasons when living in the community. For winter recreation enthusiasts, skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing are all possibilities during the season, as the city will see an average of 26 inches of snow per winter. However, weather conditions during these months are cold, and temperatures will dip below zero several nights per year. A reliable furnace or heat pump is a necessity to keep homes warm during the winter.

Spring and autumn in West Lafayette are typically pleasant, but summers are hot and muggy. High temperatures will exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit nearly 20 days per year. While this may seem like a welcome break from the frigid winter weather, these conditions can also be dangerous, so homes should be outfitted with energy-efficient air conditioning units.
